This August, Nigerian visual artist Data Oruwari brings her visionary body of work Echoes of the Nile to life at Southside Contemporary Art Gallery in Richmond.
Presented by OSENGWA, a multidisciplinary creative enterprise committed to African art and culture, the exhibition reimagines ancient spiritual wisdom for contemporary times; inviting viewers into a deeply immersive and introspective experience.
Echoes of the Nile explores the sacred laws of Ma’at: the ancient Egyptian principles of truth, balance, harmony, and cosmic order. Through 44 intricate ink-based artworks, Data Oruwari bridges ancestral knowledge and contemporary storytelling using pointillism, fine line work, and luminous gold detailing.
The exhibition is curated by Seju Alero Mike, Artistic Director of OSENGWA and Ra-Twoine Fields of Southside Contemporary Art Gallery.
