"For I have set a seat before you in the presence of abundance, plant your dreams and desires for their roots shall germinate”
Taking inspiration from the Nyamwezi people in Tanzania, this chair used by chiefs in initiation ceremonies is a reinterpretation and manifestation of my desire to be seated and rooted in the limitless abundance inherent to my being. In times of uncertainty, the cowries grant us all passage into this space where comfort, leisure, hope, protection, prosperity, peace, love, and abundance are possible and present.
This work is a metaphysical space where I/you/us/we/the ancestors can feel grounded, unmovable, protected, and nurtured. A space where possibilities are endless and limitless for Black folks everywhere. an uninhibited space we can occupy with a sense of belonging and flourish simply in our being. A space where freedom is imaginable and real."seated/seeded"
